Judith Shanner

Member at Large

Judy has owned a home in the Stratfield Historic District for nearly 25 years. As a history buff, genealogist and architecture afficionado, she has always had a soft spot for vintage homes. Together with her late husband, she ran a successful marketing communications firm. They played an active role in the original SHDA, serving as officers, publishing the newsletter and organizing events. The two also organized an ad hoc group that saved two of Bridgeport’s National Register districts from the wrecking ball. Judy served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, and helped to develop its long-term strategic plan.

Judy is currently a business-to-business marketing consultant. A classically-trained soprano, she has appeared in opera, concert and recitals and has enjoyed a second career as a church soloist. Each December she presents a concert of sacred Christmas music at Calvary St. George’s Episcopal Church in the district.
